“We’re all strangers connected by what we reveal, what we share, what we take away–our stories. I guess that’s what I love about books–they are thin strands of humanity that tether us to one another for a small bit of time, that make us feel less alone or even more comfortable with our aloneness, if need be.”
~Libba Bray
Reading is a solitary pursuit. Yet when I share my thoughts and feelings about books with others there becomes a connection that tells me I am known. As a child and teenager, I found very few people with whom I could share my love of reading. Then I went to college and took one literature course a sememster so I had an excuse to read books. I loved those courses; talking about books with others who shared my passion. Throughout my life I’ve met others here and there who loved books. But whether there was someone to share my love or not, reading remained my constant.
Here I share my recent reviews of books I’ve read. I’m not a literary critic. I will talk about characterization and plot. But when I connect with a book it’s usually because it’s engaged my emotions in a way that enriches me or engages my passion. My reviews will tell you more about me than the books sometimes. I hope you enjoy them. Stop by and leave your own thoughts. We will connect by what we reveal.
