Teaser Tuesdays – Easy Innocence

Teaser Tuesday

A new feature that is courtesy of Miz B’s Should Be Reading Blog. Each Tuesday I will post a snippet from a book I’m reading, or just finished reading. The name and author of the book as well a brief synopsis of the book is included.

Easy Innocence – Georgia Davis Mystery #1
Libby Fischer Hellmann

Goodreads Synopsis: When pretty, smart Sara Long is found bludgeoned to death, it’s easy to blame the man with the bat. But Georgia Davis, former cop and newly-minted PI, is hired to look into the incident at the behest of the accused’s sister, and what she finds hints at a much different, much darker answer. It seems the privileged, preppy schoolgirls on Chicago’s North Shore have learned just how much their innocence is worth to hot-under-the-collar businessmen. But while these girls can pay for Prada pricetags, they don’t realize that their new business venture may end up costing them more than they can afford.

Teaser:

Two seniors sauntered over, both holding cans of beer. Lauren knew them; uninspiring girls whose intersts were limited to boys, clothes, and cars. One of them twirled a lock of hair. They wanted Sara, they said.

“Sara?” Lauren replied. “What for?”

The girls exchanged glances. “She needs some attitude readjustment,” one said.

Lauren crossed her arms.

“She thinks she’s hot shit.” the other chimed in. “It’s time to teach her a lesson.”

Sara? Are you kidding? What the fuck are you talking about?”

“You know.” The first girl threw her a meaningful look.

An icicle of fear slid down Lauren’s spine. “No. I don’t.” Sara was beautiful. Every boy in school probably had wet dreams about her. But Sara didn’t flirt. Or lead them on. Lauren had seen her back off when some guy mustered up the courge to approach her. Still that didn’t stop people from being jealous.

Let me know what you think of the teaser. Did it encourage you to put in on your to be read list? or to do some more reasearch? or didn’t it peak your interest? Thanks for playing Teaser Tuesday!
